The ultimate fashion blast that wasn’t, not once, wearable in real life and the unity of conspicuously four different characters that would never match…what else would it be but Sex & The City, The Movie!
To start with, I am a freaky fan of the series… not because I relate to it in some specific corners… it just because I am a female who go through the same everyday concerns about love, life, fashion, relations, food, and the city.
Yet, as realistic as the problems faced may sound, as hilarious and unrealistic the solutions they get to reach… However, it’s all about living the same problem and getting through with it; it’s not about receiving free consultancy from Hollywood…
I assumed that those who never watched the show will never be able to understand the movie… then I got to know that they brief you about each of the four characters at the beginning… still after watching I had the same point…
Why is that? Well first, the six-year events built up each character; Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha were not the same when the show first aired 10 years ago. Second, the movie was a pickup from where we left them all in season six finale. In other words, it was more of a 2.5 hrs packed 7th season that is made to rest our curious minds from wondering whatever happened to them and make sure that the ladies we loved, hated, cried, and laughed with are still as strong and stylish as ever.
The movie as it stands by itself will impress neither the general nor the selective audience… as it is specifically targeting trendy strong messed-up females… still, labeling it a chick flick won’t be fair…
However, As an SATC movie… all the show lovers where dying to check on the four girls and answer their doubtful questions… Will Carrie get married to Mr. Big? Will Miranda settle in Brooklyn? Will Charlotte get pregnant? And will Samantha’s affection to Smith drain her into monogamy? You will be relieved to see their whereabouts, excited to join them over their hangouts, and ecstatic and to watch these hip women walking down the streets of Manhattan. But you will get to see all that with an additional slice of drama that wasn’t much appreciated by some… leading its review to an adverse outlook which was more likely, not that breathtaking…
I must say, it was good seeing the old pals again in a humbly impressive motion picture… for those who got attached to the show, or fell in the with one of the characters, or got dazzled with the intense amount of brands passing in one episode, or got addicted to Carrie’s Manolo Blahnik’s… get and watch the DVD… it was just released few days ago…

Interesting movie, but not quite what I expected really.
A bit much dramatic and depressive, I expected lots of fun and jokes.
Felt like a season squeezed in a movie really
I’m a SATC addict… and I’d watch it again just to enjoy the 4 characters… Now in my mid 30s, “relating” to the ladies and their worlds doesn’t even begin to describe why I’ve fallen so hard for the series. The movie, however, lacks essence… a nice extra treat for all fans of the series, I agree… but doesn’t stand alone as a movie.
Oh… and as SATC fan, I’d grant the movie full shiny 4 stars
First of all, Sex & the City is a Way Over-rated Series. I really wanted to watch the movie, but i didn’t feel there’s any change in story and events,as mazen said “Felt like a season squeezed in a movie really” . i’ll give it a shot and see if i’m wrong
Well as I said Moe the movie is a very sweet treat to all series’ fans… and no its totally not overrated
