Sweet November - 2001

Director: Pat O’Connor
Cast: Keanu Reeves, Charlese Theron
Rating:

“Why a month? Because it’s long enough to be meaningful, but short enough to stay out of trouble”…. I can almost remember every single line of this movie and please don’t tell me it’s just another chick flick. This movie changed my principles and perception towards life. This movie made me love Enya, apples, exotic pashminas, and hot baths without mentioning the things it made me hate more then I already did: the digital word, driving, & sickness…
Charlese Theron had such an amazing performance in this romantic drama. This role, in my opinion, is the one who introduced her to the real world… her appearance as the simple, charming, and lively Sara Deiver is what made her the famous actress she is now. Anyways the choice of the whole cast was just perfect though there weren’t many; mainly Sara, Nelson, and the neighbors.
As you watch, the movie maintains its consistent mood from the start and till its half when suddenly reality slaps you on the face and drives its sequence to an opposite dark path, but by then its too late… you are already attached and you will have to go with it till the end even if it hurts. It is a very simple story of you come to think of it, about a girl (Charlese Theron) who changes a boy’s life (Keanu Reeves) just by letting him into hers, thus, erasing everything he was interested in which was nothing but an additional misery to the dull life he used to live.
Once he gets attached, he discovers that what seemed to him to be sad and disheartening is nothing compared to what she was going through. This movie makes you value life and all what’s in it; the sand, sun, beach, flowers, kids, fruits, muffins, happiness, laughter, tears, kisses, and sighs…
when I was heading towards the movie theater in 2002, I had no idea that this movie will have a great impact on me, I actually had no idea what was it about because as I distantly remember there was a very old movie back in the sixties that had the same title but the other was a romantic comedy…. You should see the way I looked like when I went out… even till this day during the last five minutes, when Sara and Nelson are holding each other, I always say to myself that this is just a good movie and I shouldn’t take it too seriously (baring in mind that I watched it over 10 times), so I always manage to keep it together until the music starts playing… as if its magic! and trust me its been a while since the last time I cried over a movie… even Brave Heart didn’t make me cry the first time I saw it.
So for all those who really believe in Charlese’s potentials, her acting is exquisite in this movie and for all those who think that not all romantic movies are part of a girl’s package, you should really watch it!

I didn’t like this movie because it was not realistic, it was phony actually!! What kind of person would think: “ok , november is about to start, I need to find someone for this month, I’ll think for the december boy, later!”. And why she decides to stay with hm, what happened to jan, feb, or march boys? well, sorry but I’ll skip it..
Well I can’t agree with you on that… this romance is so not typical… the life she was living was against all laws of nature; her daily activities, principles, and interests. But if you come to think of it… she had a lovely and exciting life which made perfect sense especially to those who don’t really realize the pleasure of being alive…
