Rating:

A movie seen by a subjective eye who is intending to keep the review so as this feature speaks of a unique lifestyle comprehended only by its beloved people.

The city is portrayed by one of its lads; A dreamland of opportunities lost and yet found… a one way ticket to the land of surprises, some are overwhelmingly undecided. What else it can be… but Dubai!

This feature offers a kaleidoscopic view of the lives of three multi-ethnic strangers and their indirect effect on each other. Yes, we’ve seen the same plot but this has a different taste, where bitterness fights happiness while thrashing its way through the blessed and the less fortunate.

As a person who lived in the cosmopolitan city, you’d cross your heart and kiss your elbow that you once met one of these common figures. Maybe the Indian taxi driver, or the European stewardess, or the fortunate Emirati… but then you wouldn’t have a clue of their common hopes and fears and the subtle battles of uncertainty occupying their heads.

Our idols here, or so I’d like to think of them, run through the realms of everyday life, until one day, destiny decides it’s time to play its game in crafting the fate of these characters through lessons learnt the hard way. A typical experience granted by the City of Life… Alas, this one comes without a manual.

Faisal (Saood Al Ka’abi), the fortunate jobless Emirati spends his time with the financially challenged Khalfan (Yassin Al Salman), and Nathalia (Alexandra Maria Lara), a decent Romanian hostess lives and works with the decently challenged Olga (Nathalie Dormer), while Baso (Sonu Sood) the delusional Indian taxi driver fantasies living the life of the has-nothing–to-do-with-challenged famous Bollywood actor. These characters’ life events intervene unknowingly where at some point, they’d share an unwilling shift in destiny with whomever they meet.

Our talented director, Ali F. Mostafa, portrays his hometown in the most sincere and honest way offering a touchable feeling of loose bonds between intersecting mini-tales that you will get to live through its players where one’s despair can be another’s ray of light.

This film is brought to life with great wisdom in hand breaking national boundaries, mind you Dubai is the movie’s main character and the director being  one if its sons… however, this goes behind what we humans label ourselves with and steps over races, genders, age groups, and social classes.

A feature that speaks up for its city… where beyond its sexy skyline lies the poorest neighborhoods. Authentic yet daring… this movie is simply a chapter of a never ending story…  Do Watch :)
