Another entertaining Disney movie as they always promise. Year after year, performance is getting better and imagination is getting wider… what I am impressed at most is that Walt Disney was always known for children movies, however, recent productions raised two big questions “Are family movies getting so sophisticated that they are more catchy to the grownup’s eye? Or is it Disney that is more into grownup movies in which they trim and conceal for children’s view?”

It is a thrilling movie about a treasure and the adventure to find it. From the very beginning it holds you up with a gold digging story then directly jumps to action all along; whenever you expect something to happen… it does but with the twist and whatever result you anticipate… it’s always slightly above your expectations… thrilling! Dianne Kruger’s famed introduction to Hollywood was this movie. For me, she is a sweet actress that later on proved to be good in wearing different faces. Besides, Nicolas Cage happened to be really entertaining, and as I always disagree and struggle to argue: he is not an expressionless actor!! Here he proves that he is some entertaining fella with a sense of humor and a soft spot. Actually if you come to think of it, Nicolas Cage did entertain us with a wide range of diverse roles and personalities from an action hero to a con, an angel, and a family man…

The cast ensemble is well chosen, some of them are well known and some of them are not; like the computer geek Riley (Justin Bartha) who by himself contributed with his comic taste to the movie. It is a combination of an adventure that seems appealing to all kinds of viewers from causal audience to dedicated movie lovers. It is an entertainment worth going to the theater to see… after all adventure/action movies are better seen on the big screen.

Another appealing feature is the movie’s fusion and blend with actual history and factoids. The director (Jon Turtelhaub) didn’t come up with a fictional plot out of scratch, but he gathered history and added an adventure to it… an interesting mix that will make you think: “so maybe this is really on the back of this or on the edge of that!”… Well I did give it a thought to be honest!

I was really entertained and excited to watch the second part (National Treasure: Book of Secrets) which I already did and will post the review soon. So if you have a gathering and still wondering which movie to rent… go get and watch this one!
